Journey Sticks

Our geography topic this term is Great Gaddesden and Hemel Hempstead.

Today we went on a walk around the Village of Great Gaddesden. We looked at the local area and made journey sticks.

We taped different objects that we found in the village on our sticks. Some of us found pretty stones, leaves, feathers and flowers.

We will use our objects to support us in Geography and Art. In Geography we will use our journey sticks to remind us of things we saw in the village for map drawing and in Art we use our objects to support our observational drawings!

Fractions!

Today in maths we were finding equivalent fractions!  (Equivalent means equal or the same as)

It was quite tricky but we managed to find a good method!

When we want to find an equivalent fraction all you need to do, is multiply the numerator and the denominator by the same number!

Once we learnt this, we were flying through our sums!

Here's our learning in action!

Handwriting!

As you know writing is our whole school focus and we are trying really hard to improve our handwriting too!

Callum worked really hard today on his handwriting and we're really pleased with his fabulous presentation.

Fabulous reading!

Today Dylan moved up another stage in his reading and we all are really proud of him.

Dylan tries to read everyday at home.

Dylan's top tips for reading!

* Take your time when you are reading so you sound words out properly.
*Try and pick a book that you're interested in (But you still need to read a range of books)
*Read everyday at home!

Performance Poetry

This week we are still focusing our literacy on Roald Dahl. Yesterday and today we looked at silly poems by Dahl.  We then discussed what we liked about the poems and the features they have.

Have a look at our work below.

Writing Week!

Last week was writing week and we focused on Roald Dahl!

We wrote revolting rhymes, Silly stories and Cartoon strips all it was all inspired by Roald Dahl.

On Thursday we went to the Roald Dahl Museum! We had a fabulous time learning about the famous author!

Below are some recounts of our trip. Please feel free to read them.

On Friday we dressed up as Roald Dahl book characters. I went as Veruca Salt from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.  We then wrote character descriptions on the characters we dressed up as.
