Inverted commas

Today we were writing direct speech using inverted commas.

We discussed the vocabulary needed and then had a go at writing our own!

Here are some tips to remember when writing direct speech:

Open your inverted commas and write your speech, remember it must start with a capital letter!

Then you must remember to include any punctuation after your sentence. This could be a question mark, explanation mark or a full stop.

Then you must close your inverted commas.

Here is an example.

"Good morning! How are you?"
