Big Writing is a time for quiet writing. The entire class writes about a topic given to us. First, we play some word games and have a VCOP warm up (vocabulary, connectives, openers and punctuation). Then we look at examples of good writing and discuss why it's good and highlight all of the bits we like the best.
This week we were writing a recount about Christmas Day.
I enjoy Big Writing because it's nice and quiet and we get to plan before we write so we know exactly what we're going to write about.
